The Rules of Dressing
Here are the 15 rules of dressing every woman should know when creating an outfit:
- Black minimizes
- White maximizes
- Bright colors catch the attention and generally enlarge (use on petite body or to emphasize small body areas)
- Vertical stripes or vertical details elongate (good for petite and oval body type)
- Horizontal stripes widen (good for tops if you have a triangle body type)
- Small prints emphasize large shapes (not appropriate for grand figures)
- Large prints emphasize small shapes (good for petites or small framed women)
- Color blocking (different, plain colors for your top and bottom) shortens the body (use for tall figures)
- One color head to toe elongates the body
- Details, ruffles, pleats, sequins, big collars, etc. – enlarge (use to emphasize smaller parts of your body)
- High waist will make your legs look longer
- Dropped waist will make your torso look longer
- Black suit/White shirt – highest level of formality
- Wearing the right size bra makes wanders
