How to Dress Short Legs Long Torso

If you have a short legs long torso body proportions it is very important to try creating a balanced look when dressing. The two main things you need to do are:

  1. Do not over emphasize on your natural waistline and try to create an illusion of a higher waist.
  2. Visually elongate your legs.

The first you can achieve by wearing peplum tops, cropped jackets, tops and dresses with empire waistline, tops and jackets that are not too long. Everything you wear on top should be rather short or even cropped as this will created the illusion of a shorter torso and longer legs. Also, consider wearing horizontal or diagonal stripes to break up the upper body space.

To visually lengthen your legs wear high waisted pants and skirts. The skirts will work best if they are short (you can even go for mini if your legs are toned and you want to show them). Choose darker colours and pin stripes for your bottoms to create an illusion of a longer lower body. Make sure your hosiery, skirt and shoes are the same colour – this will also elongate your legs and make your body proportionate. Avoid cropped pants and bermuda shorts as they will make your legs look shorter or if you choose to wear an ankle length pants make sure to pair them with very high heels of the same colour as your pants.
