Personally, I love white denim. It is my favourite summer pant, it goes with absolutely everything and never goes out of style. I also like it so much because it goes so well with navy and dark blue tops (and I have so many of them) and it gives that easygoing, sailor vibe that every time I wear it I have the feeling that I am on vacation. It is also very chic and can easily be dressed up or can be worn casually….so there you go another feature, versatility!
From an image consulting stand point, however, I think the white denim is a nightmare. First of all, it will inevitably make any figure look few inches bigger (remember white makes you look bigger, black makes you look thinner). Second, all denim nowadays have so much stretch in it and it is so thin and soft (which is a good thing for most denim bot definitely not for white) that will not only show all your imperfections, including cellulite but even emphasize them. Third, most white denim is see trough so people can see your underwear and pockets, which is not fun.
So, as you can see, white denim is a tricky business for most body types and proportions and even the skinniest ladies may encounter problems wearing it. Here are some tips for choosing the right pair when shopping for white denim.
- Try to opt for a boyfriend cut to avoid emphasis of body imperfections.
- If you are shopping for a skinny denim look for non stretchy one or at least with a minimum amount of stretch. Jeans without stretch look stiffer and more like real denim vs. a soft pant.
- Look for the tickets denim possible, I know that this isn’t the best for summer but trust me, you will look 10 time better in it.
- When trying it on make sure that the fabric isn’t sheer
